Miggy :If not to choppy, 2 feet or less, i would try at least 2 yellow birds with 00 orange dodgers with peanut or tinsel flies in silver, silver green, or silver blue . i would run flies on 40 Lb test between dodger and fly about 14-18 inches apart, as water temp gets above 46-48 degrees, the closer to 14 inch length seems to work best ! Idea is  the thicker 40 lb  test will give more action to fly on active feeding fish !  Vary length of line out between yellow birds, and make very slight turns ! Let the fish tell you what speed to troll at ! example if you turn and the faster moving bird gets hit more , that tells you to troll a tad faster , and visa versa ! If there is a pesky black fly hatch, run a tiny black, black/gold  peanut fly out far on one side with yellow bird and dodger fly combo , for steelies feeding on the surface . If conditions are just right, flat seas, you may see their fins going thru the water as they eat the flies !
As far as dipseys, i would run  00 orange dodgers and flies on them and  spoons on the riggers ! If you see a charter boat in the harbor look at his dodger fly setup ! FISH ON !

Baitfish
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.   Marked fish and bait fish.   Used spoons on two outside dipsey divers.  Used dodgers and flies on my downriggers.   Used a 00 dipsey diver and silver dodgers and peanut fly on a middle rod.
Waves 2 foot early this morning and 3 to 4 foot with some 5s before we left.
Maybe next weekend fir the Reatta

Landed 13 for almost 30 bites or so with a late start at around 11 am. Started off with 4 rods going off at once and had a 2 man limit by 3 pm Picked up a buddy from shore and got another 3. Fished close to the harbor around bait schools and picked off 1 or 2 fish each pass.

rods:
1-1oz snap weight 30" back with oo dodger and peanut
1-2oz snap weight 30' back 00 dodger peanut
1-3 color lead core orange spoon
1-1.5 color leadcore 00 dodger peanut
2- size #0 dispey 70' back on 3 setting with orange spoons
1-rigger down 15' back 50' with blue dolphin stinger spoon
1- 3 color flatline with 00 dodger and peanut

All rods got bites but the standout was the downrigger, with the 3 color coming in second. Spoons by far did best. Only briefly had a stubby dodger on with no bites. Mostly small coho with only 3 being decent on the rigger. Also managed one brown on a dipsey.

0 for 2.  Not great.  30 plus feet of water nothing happening.  Both bites were at 18 / 20 feet of water.  Nothing on the finder except for coming out of the harbor. All good though. Great ti be back on the water with the reatta.

Red dodgers , purple peanut fly, 30’ of water dipsey divers the best.   Fish are in schools from the state line to CARTHAGE.    We missed a half dozen or so and the hits were 2-3 at a time.  Bait was everywhere.       The water was rough and murky so they didn’t shy away from the boat so planer boards weren’t necessary.

Make sure we all congratulate Eric on losing his partnership with Alumacraft because he wanted to target walleyes in a closed area and brag all over social media not realizing the warden was at the launch watching his live videos waiting for him to get back to launch. (Confirmed with alumacraft)

Started setting lines and 30 feet of water slightly south of Kenosha finding 46.5 on the surface and murky water. I was told to fish around 35 feet and kept doing that south weaving back-and-forth and marking occasional bait fish. Saw a boat net a couple of fish. First fish for us was about a 12 pound lake trout on two color with orange crush spoon. As we got inside of 30 feet of water proceeding south started seeing more bait fish.

Almost to the state line and 1 mile and a half north was really a lot of bait. Saw a flock of seagulls in shallow, so gave that a look saw my only school of fish and took one coho and missed another. Fished the remainder of the day in 22 to 28 feet of water and rarely out of bait. Fish marks were mixed in at times. Fish were not very aggressive. Damn, full moon!

Three bites on a regular size JJ McMuffin, back 60 down 24 missed three fish today. Mass confusion on a three color took a decent coho. If 2 pounds is decent. Orange crush on 2 color took a coho. One Coho braid Dipsy out 20 feet red flasher silver black gold 3 inch slider fly. Rigger down 11 back 5  3 inch slider fly black and purple.

Ended up with five fish for eight hook ups and six drive-bys. Trolled from 30 N. to 37 N. 22-28fow rarely out of bait with the 1 1/2 foot waves and had two bites and one fish in that long pass.

Going to wait for those little buggers to grow up. They should because Steve said they were eating 4 to 7 inch alewife and mostly 7 inch. Beautiful day to fish and for the most part no one had a lot of fish. I heard the bite was great off of Waukegan.
